Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Pharmacist to support daily pharmacy operations in a compounding environment. This role focuses on staff oversight, regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pharmacy staff to ensure accurate dispensing and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance prior to dispensing
- Conduct drug utilization reviews on all prescription orders
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, USP standards (795, 797, 800), HIPAA, and SOPs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace
- Provide professional guidance to patients and prescribers regarding medication use, dosing, interactions, and storage
- Meet deadlines for prescription fulfillment, reporting, billing, and operational tasks
- Document and report quality-related events and support continuous improvement efforts
- Complete required continuing education and support team initiatives as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited program
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist license in good standing
- 2+ years of pharmacy leadership experience; compounding experience preferred
- Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and compliance standards (USP 795, 797, 800)
- Strong leadership, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Proficiency with pharmacy systems, order processing, and inventory software
- Strong pharmaceutical math skills
- Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to stand for extended periods
