Location: Loveland, OH

Compensation: $50-$65/hr

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5-10+ years of experience in ceramic processing, additive manufacturing, or powder-based systems
  • Strong knowledge of ceramic materials, high-temperature behavior, binder chemistry, and thermal processing methods
  • Hands-on experience with binder jet or similar additive manufacturing technologies
  • Familiarity with process control methodologies and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Preferred: Experience with ceramic molds/cores for investment casting and Ni-based superalloys (e.g., IN718, Rene alloys)
  • Background in aerospace or regulated environments, printhead/fluid systems, and scaling additive processes to production preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize ceramic additive manufacturing processes, including binder jet printing and slurry-based/SLA/DLP systems for molds and cores
  • Define and control critical process parameters such as binder behavior, powder characteristics, and layer/recoating conditions
  • Lead development of high-temperature binder systems, including debinding, burnout performance, and compatibility with superalloy casting
  • Improve print quality by enhancing surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and reducing defects (e.g., warping, delamination, streaking)
  • Establish and refine post-processing methods including drying, curing, debinding, and sintering or infiltration strategies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure mold performance, thermal resistance, and minimal interaction with molten alloys
  • Drive scale-up from R&D to production, including throughput optimization, yield improvement, equipment qualification, and troubleshooting process issues
