CNC Operator | Belvidere, IL | Eval Hire | $18.0-$22.00/hour | M-F 6:00a - 3:00p

Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating production and machining equipment to manufacture precision metal components according to work orders, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to consistently produce accurate parts while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor assigned machining and production equipment.
• Load raw materials or parts into machines and remove completed components.
• Follow work orders, shop instructions, blueprints, drawings, and part specifications.
• Make basic machine adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality.
• Inspect finished and in-process parts for dimensions, appearance, and defects.
• Use measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Monitor machines during operation and identify unusual noises, vibration, tool wear, or other operating problems.
• Maintain required production and quality documentation.
• Meet established production and quality standards while minimizing scrap.
• Perform basic machine cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Communicate equipment, tooling, or quality concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist with other manufacturing and shop duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machining processes.
• Ability to read a tape measure and preferably use calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to understand basic blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with close tolerances.
• Shop math skills, including fractions and decimals.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work independently after training.
• Ability to recognize quality problems and stop/report production when specifications are not being met.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
• Frequent use of hands and arms to handle parts, tools, and materials.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift and carry approximately 5-20 lbs. as needed.
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery, metal components, oils/coolants, and normal machine-shop noise.
• Safety glasses and other required PPE must be worn.
