Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and self-motivated Coal Sampling Technician to collect coal samples from multiple locations for testing and analysis. This position requires frequent travel between sites in a company vehicle, physical labor, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working outdoors and in an industrial environment, is willing to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation, and can consistently follow sampling procedures and safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive a company vehicle between various sites to collect coal samples for testing.
• Collect, handle, label, and transport coal samples according to established procedures.
• Lift and move sample materials weighing 50+ lbs. throughout the shift.
• Accurately document sample information and maintain required records.
• Follow sampling procedures to ensure samples are collected accurately and consistently.
• Safely operate around coal, industrial equipment, and active work sites.
• Maintain communication with supervisors and appropriate personnel regarding sampling activities.
• Keep company vehicle and sampling equipment clean and properly maintained.
• Follow all company safety procedures and site-specific safety requirements.
• Work independently while managing assigned locations and sampling responsibilities.
• Be available to respond to on-call requests as required.
• Work overtime as needed, including responding to changing operational needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Clean driving record required.
• Previous technical, mechanical, industrial, laboratory, or sampling experience is a plus but not required.
• Must be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be dependable and responsive when on call.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime and varying hours when needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic required.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. throughout the shift.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, walking, bending, reaching, and other physical activities are required.
• Must be able to work in an industrial environment and around coal, dust, equipment, and varying weather conditions.
• Must be physically capable of collecting and handling samples at multiple work sites.

Schedule & Availability

This position requires flexibility beyond a standard schedule.

• Overtime is required as needed.
• On-call availability is required.
• Candidates must be comfortable with being contacted outside of normal scheduled hours and responding when needed.
• Must be able to work independently while traveling between multiple sites.

Important: This position is best suited for someone who is comfortable with physical work, driving between locations, working independently, overtime, and being on call. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. throughout the shift.
