About This Sales & Staffing Leadership Development Role
We're hiring three people to learn every role in a staffing office from the ground up -- sales, recruiting, client service, and team leadership -- and grow into running one of our three St. Louis metro locations over a 7-year path. If you want to build something real and are willing to earn it, we want to meet you.
We're a family-owned Express Employment Professionals franchise in St. Louis. These three individuals will have direct access to the owners of the business to accelerate their growth.
We need hunters, not zookeepers. A zookeeper shows up, takes care of what's already there, and goes home. Nothing wrong with that. Just not what we're hiring for.
Compensation & Benefits
Base starts at $50k+. Uncapped commission on top of that. Top performers earn cash bonuses, trips, and experiences. Leadership offsites, Express national conferences, learning trips. The whole package is built to reward people who perform.
How the Sales & Staffing Leadership Development Program Works
Year 1 is a structured rotation that runs in four blocks. You learn every job in the office in a deliberate order before you lead any of it.
Month 1 — General Basic Training
You start on the phones and learn Q4. This is foundational: how the office runs, how we talk to people, the system. Everyone starts here.
Months 2 and 3 — Outside Sales (Mornings) / Employment Specialist and Front Office Coordinator (Afternoons)
Mornings are spent learning to hunt: prospecting, booking appointments, going to market. Afternoons are in the engine room filling orders and owning the front-office and applicant experience.
Months 4 through 6 — Recruiter Calls (Mornings) / Employment Specialist in a Pod (Afternoons)
Picking up volume recruiting and getting in front of clients in person while embedded in a pod. You're working alongside your teammates and visiting clients out in the field.
Months 7 through 12 — Full Generalist Employment Specialist
The back half of the year is depth. You run as a full generalist across every service line, embedded in a pod. If leadership agrees, there's an option to rotate to another office during this stretch.
The rotation isn't rigid lockstep. If you prove you genuinely love a particular part of the job and are good at it, you can commit to it early rather than waiting out the full sequence. We reward people who find their lane and lean in.
Within or alongside the rotation, you can specialize in Office Services or Skilled Trades staffing rather than staying purely generalist.
What Each Rotation Role Involves
Outside Sales Representative (B2B Sales | Business Development | Account Management)
Your job is to go find business. 100+ sales calls per week by phone and in person. You manage a Top 20 Hit List of target companies, book appointments, negotiate rates, and close new accounts. Minimum two new clients per week after 90 days is the standard. You also run MPC calls -- Most Placeable Candidate calls -- where you take a strong candidate to market to open new client doors. You learn fast what it means to own a pipeline.
Employment Specialist (Inside Sales | Recruiting | Client Services)
The engine room. You fill job orders with urgency, run inside sales calls daily, recruit and interview candidates, and keep placements moving. You stay locked in sync with the sales rep because every phone call is a sales opportunity if you treat it right. Recruiting and sales are the same muscle, just pointed in different directions.
Recruiting Specialist (High-Volume Recruiting | Talent Acquisition | Candidate Pipeline)
Volume and speed. 100 outbound calls per day to schedule at least 33 in-person interviews, with 27 kept. You drive the candidate pipeline that keeps the whole office running. You learn what it takes to keep it full and what happens when you don't.
Front Office Coordinator (Applicant Relations | Office Operations | Candidate Experience)
Every person who walks through the door or calls the office forms their opinion of Express in the first 10 seconds. You own that. You manage applicant flow and process applications. This is the role most future leaders skip -- you won't skip it.
Specialty Lines (Office Services | Skilled Trades Staffing)
Beyond the generalist track, you can go deep in Office Services or Skilled Trades staffing. Different clients, different markets, same core skills applied with more precision.
Career Path & Leadership Timeline
Year 1 — Structured Rotation (Individual Contributor)
You're in the rotation. Learning every role, owning your individual numbers, and building the foundation before you lead anything.
Years 2 and 3 — Earning Clients and Growing into Leadership
Once the rotation is behind you, you start carrying accounts you're responsible for. You grow from Junior Employment Specialist to Senior Employment Specialist leading a pod. You own a desk, and then you start leading people on one.
Years 3 through 5 — Leading Multiple Pods
Broader leadership across several teams. You're coaching, running one-on-ones, holding people accountable to their numbers, contributing to weekly performance reviews, and helping set goals for the office.
Years 6 and 7 — Office Manager / Branch Manager
You're running an office. Full responsibility for people, performance, and results. Sales strategy, recruiting pipeline, client relationships, team development.
This is a 7-year build. We know that's a real commitment. We're making the same one.
