Qualifications:
- Strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation; solid mathematical and measurement skills; technical communication proficiency.
- Sheet metal fabrication knowledge, including laser cutting technology, punch/turret operations, brake forming, and bend calculations; tooling selection and optimization expertise.
- CNC programming fundamentals; ERP/MRP system exposure (preferred); ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Root cause analysis and problem‑solving capability; lean manufacturing and waste‑reduction principles; continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience developing process documentation and work instructions; effective collaboration with shop‑floor teams.
Education and Experience
- At least three years engineering experience in manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide day‑to‑day engineering support to manufacturing operations; troubleshoot fabrication and forming issues; coordinate with supervisors and leads on scheduling and feasibility; participate in cross‑functional production and planning meetings; and perform additional engineering or operational projects as assigned.
- Analyze and interpret customer blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications; evaluate and approve engineering design changes and revisions; and maintain engineering records, drawings, and revision controls.
- Program and optimize laser cutting equipment, turret presses, and press brakes; develop and maintain manufacturing routings and process documentation; and monitor production outputs to ensure dimensional and quality specifications are met.
- Recommend tooling, fixturing, and process improvements; provide technical guidance to operators and setup personnel; and collaborate with Safety on machine guarding, ergonomics, and safe process design.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and prototype development; partner with Quality to resolve nonconformances and corrective actions; and assist with cost‑reduction and scrap‑reduction initiatives.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects; ensure processes meet quality and dimensional requirements; and contribute to optimization across fabrication, forming, and production workflows.
Skills and Abilities
- Follow all Micro Metals safety policies and procedures; promote proper PPE use on the production floor; and support incident investigations as needed.
- Support machine safety initiatives, hazard‑reduction efforts, and ensure engineering changes do not introduce new safety risks.
- Ensure programming and process methods comply with OSHA safety standards; maintain adherence to all quality and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Safety on risk assessments and corrective actions to strengthen overall safety performance.
