Job Summary

The Fleet Operations Manager is a key member of the Business Operations organization and is responsible for all areas of fleet management. The Fleet Manager is the primary driver of fleet performance, fleet strategy and standardization across brands, improvement efforts, issue resolution, risk mitigation, safety, cost management and on-going continuous improvement. They will support optimizing multimillion annual fleet spend via data driven decision making and capital planning.

This position will translate department strategy into specific roadmaps, key performance indicators and metrics for measuring progress. Collaborates with site operational and functional leaders to develop a high-performance culture by meeting overall operational objectives and implementing standardized processes and procedures that increase gross margin and minimize cost while maximizing the value delivered to our field. Performs all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

  • Oversee Fleet Operations: Serves as the primary liaison between field operations, home office, and fleet management company to ensure that vehicle data, programs and policies are in place and accurate. Manage daily operations of our fleet, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Implement Strategies: Develop and execute multi-year strategies to improve fleet utilization, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
  • Partnerships: Partner with Field Operations, Finance, and Brand leaders to ensure fleet supports revenue growth and service excellence.
  • Leadership: Collaborate with business leaders to develop and define best-in-class practices for drivers and vehicles, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Vendor Management: Work with fleet management company, vehicle vendors, repair facilities, insurance providers/brokers and others to ensure optimal performance of fleet. Identify potential cost savings through active negotiations.
  • Data Analysis: Build and leverage fleet analytics and reporting capabilities to enable data-driven decisions. Translate data into actionable insights for operations leaders. Standardize reporting across all brands for visibility and accountability

Vendor & Program Management

    • Own relationships with: Fleet Management Companies (Holman), Telematics Companies (Samsara), OEMs and Vehicle Suppliers, Maintenance networks and fuel providers.
    • Leverage strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and performance management.
    • Evaluate and implement best-in-class programs, tools, and technologies
  • Change Management & Influence
    • Lead enterprise-wide change initiatives across multiple brands with varying maturity levels
    • Influence stakeholders without direct authority to drive adoption of standardized programs
    • Build strong relationships with field leaders to ensure alignment and execution
  • Project & Stakeholder Management
    • Lead and manage cross-functional projects from initiation through execution, ensuring timely delivery and measurable outcomes.
    • Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure project alignment and effective communication.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and agility of the organization.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven experience managing large, distributed fleets (1,000+ vehicles preferred)
  • Experience in multi-entity or acquisition-driven organizations strongly preferred
  • Certifications in any of the following preferred: CIRM, CPSM, PMP, SCOR, Lean, Six Sigma
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or related field. 7+ years of fleet management experience, preferably in: Home services, construction, logistics, or field service environments

Technical Skills and Core Competencies

  • Strategic Mindset with ability to operate both at an enterprise and tactical levels.
  • Strong Financial and Analytical skills experience building data models is critical
  • Demonstrate success in cost optimization and vendor negotiations.
  • Advanced Data management and visualization excel/financial modeling – PowerBI skill set is preferred.

What success looks like (first 6 months)

  • Establish baseline for fleet cost, utilization, and performance across all brands
  • Identify and begin executing top 3-5 cost savings initiatives
  • Implement standard reporting and KPIs
  • Build Initial capital planning model and replacement strategy
  • Develop fleet integration playbook for acquisitions

  • Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and solve day-to-day level problems. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data/instructions in numeric or diagram form with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Math Ability: Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Technology Skills: Word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, and email. Familiar/experienced with FMC management systems, ERP/CRM Systems, claims management databases, and business intelligence software or other similar data applications.

Work Environment

This position operates in an office environment and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Frequently operates a computer and other standard office equipment. Occasionally moves items up to 20 pounds. Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information with internal and external stakeholders is required. Must be able to work under centrally controlled fluorescent lighting.
