Floor Tech Lead — 3rd Shift

Location: Normal, IL

Compensation: $27/hr + benefits

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Floor Tech Lead to join our facilities services team at a large industrial manufacturing campus in Normal, IL. This is a working lead role: you'll perform hands-on floor restoration and care while directing the day-to-day work of a small team. We're looking for a true subject-matter expert who already knows the trade — someone who can walk onto any floor surface, diagnose the problem, and know exactly how to fix it.

Pay & Schedule

  • $27.00/hour
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m., Sunday–Thursday
  • Weekly pay
  • Overtime paid at time-and-a-half over 40 hours/week
  • Must be flexible — occasional Saturday/Sunday daytime work is required for projects that need floors to dry undisturbed; a weekday off is provided in exchange

The pay listed is the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on the applicant's experience, skills, abilities, and alignment with market data.

What You'll Do

  • Perform and lead all floor-care operations across a large industrial campus, ensuring work meets company quality standards
  • Diagnose floor conditions and determine the correct restoration process for polished concrete, sealed concrete, terrazzo, and multiple carpet types
  • Execute and oversee strip & wax, scrub & recoat, burnishing, carpet extraction, bonneting, and other advanced restoration methods
  • Select and mix chemicals correctly for each floor type; maintain strong working knowledge of restoration chemicals
  • Operate and maintain floor-care equipment: auto-scrubbers, burnishers, swing machines, buffers, waxers, polishers, and extractors
  • Select the correct pad for each surface and service level to restore shine and finish
  • Conduct regular inspections of floor surfaces and proactively correct issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cleaning activities, chemicals used, and equipment checks
  • Direct and coach a small floor-care team on nightly workflow
  • Adhere to all site, safety, and PPE requirements

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on floor-care experience in an industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environment (not residential or healthcare-only experience)
  • Strong working knowledge of floor-care chemicals, restoration processes, equipment operation, and pad selection across concrete, terrazzo, and carpet surfaces
  • Experience working in a lead or working-supervisor capacity
  • Ability to work independently and direct a small team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move equipment
  • Comfortable submitting photos of past floor-care work as part of the application
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Working Conditions

  • Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment noise
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed

Growth & Benefits

This role offers significant room for growth as our team on-site expands, with a path toward a floor-care management position. We offer a comprehensive benefits package — details provided during the interview process.

We are a military and veteran friendly employer; veterans and candidates with relevant military experience are encouraged to apply (related MOS codes: 92S, 92Y, LS, DC).
