Express Employment is hiring a Human Resources Assistant for a steel company located in Arlington, WA. Starting pay is $36 per hour. This is a full-time, permanent, position on day shift working 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Please note: This role will transition into an HR Generalist position upon completion of training.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The HR Assistant will support all aspects of Human Resources, including employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, onboarding/offboarding, policy implementation, organizational change, and employment law compliance.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The HR Assistant will support all aspects of Human Resources, including employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, onboarding/offboarding, policy implementation, organizational change, and employment law compliance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Full-cycle recruiting: application review, interviewing, site tours, and orientation.
- Daily management and reporting of manual & digital time records for regular and temporary employees.
- Maintain accurate personnel files and track pertinent dates.
- Provide performance feedback, administer reviews, disciplinary actions, and improvement plans.
- Conduct separation processes and exit interviews.
- Offer HR advice and guidance to departments and employees.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Lead employee relations initiatives and investigations.
- Support organizational change and HR process execution.
- Implement HR programs: safety events, annual reviews, benefits enrollment, new policies, and training.
- Manage injury claims and L&I processes in collaboration with EHS Coordinator.
- Recommend and implement programs to boost engagement and retention.
- Utilize Archbright resources for efficiency and resolution.
- Investigate employee complaints and consult with legal/senior leadership as needed.
Qualifications:
- HR certification or related degree.
- 1+ years of HR experience (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Experience in employee relations and dispute resolution.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and QuickBooks.
- Industry experience is an asset.
Preferred:
- SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
- Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
