About the Role
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a motivated Junior Lab Technician to join our client's Cicero, IL facility. This role is ideal for someone with chemical laboratory experience who wants hands-on exposure to a manufacturing and packaging facility that produces lubricants, coolants, and specialty fluids.
As a Junior Lab Technician, you'll be an integral part of the team ensuring that all products meet strict quality and safety standards. You'll gain practical experience working with modern lab equipment, performing chemical analyses, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the lab and production process.

As a Junior Lab Technician, you'll be an integral part of the team ensuring that all products meet strict quality and safety standards. You'll gain practical experience working with modern lab equipment, performing chemical analyses, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the lab and production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Take samples of lubricants, coolants, and other fluids directly from production lines, storage tanks, drums, or totes.
- Run chemical and physical tests on samples to confirm product quality and compliance with specifications (e.g., viscosity, density, flash point, pH).
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis and maintain accurate records of all testing activities.
- Notify Senior Lab Technicians or the Lab Manager of any unusual results, equipment issues, or deviations from standards.
- Follow all ISO procedures, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while performing tests.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab workspace.
- Contribute suggestions for improved lab organization, procedures, and efficiency.
- Assist with other lab or production tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous experience in a chemical laboratory setting.
- Computer proficiency for data entry and lab recordkeeping.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and reliability.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to learn from senior staff.
Training & Development
- ISO & Lab Policy Training: Familiarity with lab policies, work instructions, and forms.
- Product Knowledge: Hands-on understanding of lubricants, coolants, and specialty fluids (within the first 6 months).
- Safety & Equipment Training: Proper use of lab instruments, emergency procedures, and fire extinguisher training (within the first year).
