Machinist

Pay: $25-$30/hr (based on experience)
Location: Bellwood, IL
Shift: 1st Shift (Full-time, Temp-to-Hire)

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines including lathes, mills, turret punches, insert punches, and press brakes
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
• Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and adherence to quality standards
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machines and tools
• Adjust machine settings to optimize performance and minimize material waste
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve processes and efficiency
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company safety policies

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Proven experience operating manual and CNC machining equipment
• Strong understanding of metalworking techniques, tooling, and materials
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Preferred:
  
  
  • 2+ years in machining or metal fabrication
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication and tool setup
  • Knowledge of G-code and CNC programming
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
• Lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally push/pull heavier loads
• Regular reaching, bending, and fine hand manipulation
• Ability to work safely around machinery, sparks, and debris in a fabrication environment

Protective gear required: safety glasses and steel-toe shoes/boots
