Metallurgical Technician

Location: Loveland, OH

Compensation: $37-55/HR - Contract to Hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, section, mount, polish, etch, and image metallic samples for microscopic examination.
• Operate optical and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) for imaging and analysis.
• Perform metallic powder testing (size analysis, chemistry) and hardness/microhardness testing.
• Record test results, generate reports, and maintain data accuracy.
• Develop and optimize standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain lab equipment, housekeeping, and manage consumables.
• Ensure safe laboratory practices and compliance with safety standards.
• Support other manufacturing or testing areas as needed.
• Provide reliable support to the Materials and Process Department.
• Adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Maintain high quality standards and contribute to a safe, efficient work environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Associate degree or technical training in a science or engineering discipline (preferred).
• 2+ years of laboratory experience (academic or industry).
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in metallography or related lab work.
• Experience with optical and scanning electron microscopy.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials and processes.
• Familiarity with metallic powder handling and chemical safety.
• Experience with data acquisition and analysis systems.
