Successful candidates will be comfortable diagnosing mechanical issues independently, working outdoors, and responding to service calls in a professional and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to roadside service calls for commercial trucks and diesel-powered equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and starting system issues in the field
- Perform repairs including batteries, lighting, air systems, fuel systems, and minor engine-related repairs
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance as needed
- Remove, inspect, and organize reusable components from retired vehicles and equipment
- Complete repair documentation and communicate findings clearly
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment during roadside and shop operations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or related position
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment with limited supervision
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL A or CDL B
- Experience performing mobile or roadside repairs
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Experience working on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, or construction equipment
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Combination of outdoor roadside service work and indoor shop work
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting
- Exposure to moving equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dirt, grease, and varying weather conditions
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, or after-hours service calls as business needs dictate
