PLC Controls Technician | Direct Hire | $70,000 - $75,000 | Day Shift | Dekalb County IL

  • Position Summary

    The PLC Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting programmable logic controller (PLC) systems and industrial control equipment to ensure reliable operation of manufacturing processes and automated systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems
    • Support and modify PLC programs as needed (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
    • Diagnose electrical, control, and automation issues to minimize downtime
    • Perform preventive maintenance on control systems and related equipment
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
    • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams
    • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects
    • Ensure compliance with safety and electrical standards

    Qualifications

    • Technical degree or equivalent experience in automation, controls, or electrical systems
    • 2+ years of PLC or industrial controls experience preferred
    • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic programming
    • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, sensors, and HMI interfaces
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and respond to equipment issues.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in automation, controls, or electrical systems
  • 2+ years of PLC or industrial controls experience preferred
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic programming
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, sensors, and HMI interfaces
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and respond to equipment issues

Certifications:

  • Relevant industry certifications are a plus but not mandatory.

Typical Workday:

  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Address issues with equipment to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Installation and Acceptance: Oversee the acceptance testing of new equipment, ensuring it meets all required standards and specifications.
