The Press Brake Setup/Operator is responsible for operating press brake machines and supporting production by assembling parts, bending metal, and operating various shop equipment. This role requires producing high-quality parts that meet precise engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines, including tooling installation, program loading, and parameter adjustments
- Perform metal bending, punching, and sawing operations as directed
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate production
- Inspect parts during and after production to ensure they meet quality and dimensional specifications
- Calculate bend allowances, blank sizes, tonnage, and tooling requirements
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments
- Maintain a clean and organized work area before and after production
- Collaborate with production, quality, and management teams to meet output goals
- Communicate issues and support continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of press brake operation experience
- Experience bending metal in a manufacturing or fabrication environment (required)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Strong math skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working with sheet metal
