The Product Manager is responsible for driving the strategy, development, launch, and lifecycle management of innovative dental equipment product lines. This role involves defining product vision, conducting market research, ensuring regulatory compliance, and executing go-to-market strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets. Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, marketing, sales, regulatory affairs, and clinical teams, the Product Manager acts as the key advocate for customer needs, translating insights into actionable plans that achieve business goals, enhance clinician efficiency and patient outcomes in a regulated medical device environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (include, but not limited to):

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for dental equipment lines, aligning with business objectives, market trends, and customer feedback; regularly update based on performance data and emerging opportunities.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Perform comprehensive market analysis, including competitive intelligence, customer needs assessment, voice-of-customer research, and trend monitoring to identify opportunities and inform product decisions throughout the lifecycle.
  • Product Development: Partner with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing to oversee design, prototyping, testing, and iteration of dental equipment, ensuring adherence to performance, cost, usability, safety, and quality standards; define key requirements such as features, verification, and validation protocols.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Work closely with regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with FDA regulations (e.g., 510(k), PMA), CE Mark, ISO 13485, and other global standards; support documentation, submissions, audits, and post-market surveillance activities.
  • Go-to-Market Execution: Create and lead launch plans, including pricing, positioning, messaging, promotional materials, sales training, and distribution strategies to drive market adoption and revenue growth; monitor and adjust based on real-time feedback.
  • Budget & Financial Management: Oversee project budgets, forecast demand and revenue, evaluate ROI, and collaborate with supply chain on inventory and pricing strategies to support profitability. While developing new products the position is responsible for establishing cost and margin targets, monitoring and reporting status and implementing mitigations when targets are not being achieved.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary coordinator across teams (e.g., marketing, sales, operations, quality) to align on timelines, resolve issues, and ensure seamless product delivery from concept to commercialization.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with dental professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), end-users, and partners to gather insights, validate concepts, conduct usability testing, and foster product advocacy; incorporate feedback to enhance user experience.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Analyze post-launch metrics (e.g., sales, margins, customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes, usage trends) to evaluate product health; recommend enhancements, extensions, or discontinuations to optimize portfolio value and minimize risks like excess inventory.
  • Competitive and Industry Awareness: Monitor competitor activities, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes; develop response strategies and contribute to portfolio enhancements or new product ideas.

Educational and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, life sciences, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of product management experience in the medical device or healthcare industry, with a demonstrated history of launching Class I, II, or III devices.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams within regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO standards).
  • Strong knowledge of medical device development processes, including design controls, risk management, human factors engineering, and clinical evaluations.
  • Familiarity with dental equipment, clinical workflows, and market dynamics is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel) and market research methodologies.
  • Superior communication and presentation abilities to influence stakeholders, including sales teams and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Agile/Scrum, or product management credentials are a plus.
