Senior Bookkeeper / Payroll Specialist

A local CPA firm is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and bringing organization to financial records.
The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience and be comfortable taking over books that need significant cleanup and catch-up work, getting records accurate and organized, and preparing them for tax filing. Experience working with multiple companies or clients is highly valued.
What You'll Do
- Manage and maintain accurate books for multiple clients and companies
- Perform bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up projects, including disorganized or incomplete records
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
- Establish and organize bookkeeping systems, charts of accounts, and workflows
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports
- Help ensure financial records are accurate and ready for tax preparation
- Work closely with CPAs and team members to support client needs
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related reporting
- Communicate professionally with clients to gather information and resolve questions
- Manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a full-charge or senior bookkeeper
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Experience with QuickBooks; QuickBooks ProAdvisor experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to take a set of books that needs work and independently identify, correct, and organize the records
- Experience with payroll is highly preferred
- Comfortable working with multiple companies or client accounts
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a professional team
- CPA firm or multi-client bookkeeping experience is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- $19-$24 per hour, depending on experience
