Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Maintenance & Repair:
Perform maintenance and repairs on industrial shredders and associated systems, including changing and tracking shredder belts, pins, hammers, shafts, bearings, liners, and wear parts. - Conveyor & Belt Systems:
Inspect, align, tension, and replace conveyor belts, pulleys, rollers, and idlers to maintain safe and efficient operation. - Shutdown & Rebuild Work:
Assist with planned shutdowns, tear-downs, and rebuilds of shredder components and downstream equipment. - Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections, lubrication, and routine servicing to prevent downtime and extend equipment life. - Equipment Operation Support:
Operate loaders, forklifts, and other mobile equipment as needed to support maintenance and production activities. - Safety & Compliance:
Follow strict LOTO procedures, PPE requirements, and safety policies; immediately report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions. - Documentation & Communication:
Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and communicate equipment status to operations and maintenance teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
Proven experience as an Industrial Mechanic, Millwright, or Shredder Maintenance Technician working with heavy industrial equipment. - Mechanical Skills:
Strong background in belt systems, rotating equipment, hydraulic and mechanical assemblies, and wear-part replacement. - Technical Aptitude:
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and perform precision work such as alignment and fit-up. - Safety Mindset:
Demonstrated commitment to industrial safety standards and environmental compliance. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors, climb ladders, lift heavy components, and work in physically demanding conditions. - Communication:
Able to work effectively as part of a maintenance team and communicate clearly with operations staff.
