Electronic Assembly Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electronic Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team in Camas, WA. This role requires hands-on experience with precision electronic assembly, soldering techniques, and quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both through-hole and surface mount component assembly, with demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision soldering of electronic components including through-hole and surface mount devices (SMD)
- Follow detailed work instructions and assembly procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality output
- Conduct electrical and mechanical testing using precision measurement tools
- Troubleshoot and diagnose assembly issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of assembly processes and test results
- Ensure all work meets specified mechanical and electrical tolerances
- Respond appropriately to out-of-specification test results and calibration discrepancies
- Maintain clean, organized work environment and proper handling of sensitive electronic components
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Soldering Expertise: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on soldering experience with both through-hole and surface mount components
- Assembly Precision: Proven ability to follow complex work instructions and maintain accuracy in repetitive assembly tasks
- Diagnostic Capabilities: Experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies and identifying root causes of failures
- Measurement Tools Proficiency: Comfortable using multimeters, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments
- Quality Control: Experience with calibration procedures and corrective actions when specifications are not met
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years in electronic assembly or related manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience with:
- IPC soldering standards (IPC-A-610 knowledge preferred)
- SMT (Surface Mount Technology) assembly processes
- Through-hole component installation and soldering
- Use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, or function generators
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Quality control processes and documentation
Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to diagnose assembly issues systematically
- Experience implementing corrective actions for out-of-tolerance conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC certification (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610)
- Experience with automated assembly equipment
- Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols
- Technical degree or certification in electronics, manufacturing, or related field
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (ISO, FDA, etc.)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work with small components under microscope or magnification
- Manual dexterity for precision assembly work
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Visual acuity for detailed inspection work
Pay: $25/hour
