Small Engine Mechanic
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Small Engine Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of small engine equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and meets performance standards. Ideal candidates will have hands-on mechanical experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical issues on small engines including lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, generators, and other equipment
- Perform repairs on engines, fuel systems, electrical components, and hydraulic systems
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble engine components to manufacturer specifications
- Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify and resolve equipment issues
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and service timelines
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures
- Keep work area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and parts
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with supervisors or customers
Qualifications
- Previous experience working on small engines or related mechanical equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and fuel systems
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Valid driver's license preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Small engine certification or technical training
- Experience with brands such as Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Stihl, or Husqvarna
- Welding or fabrication experience (a plus)

- Exposure to noise, fumes, and varying weather conditions
- Fast-paced, hands-on role requiring attention to detail and safety
Compensation & Schedule
- $19-21/hr
- Pay based on experience
- Full-time / Part-time availability
