Description
The Service Division Technical Training Manager (TTM) is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs to support the ongoing development of the Service Division workforce. Specifically designed around NCCER Training program. This role ensures that technicians, apprentices, and other service personnel possess the technical skills, safety knowledge, and customer service competencies required to perform at high levels. The TTM works closely with Service leadership, field teams, and HR/Training departments to align training with company standards, emerging technologies, and industry best practices
Requirements
Job Responsibilities(List is not inclusive)
• Develop and deliver engaging technical training using the NCCER content focused on HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service skills, including diagnostics, repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance.
• Conduct classroom and hands-on lab sessions to reinforce learning objectives.
• Assess skill levels of participants and recommend development plans.
• Stay current on industry codes, standards, equipment, and technologies to ensure training materials remain relevant and accurate.
• Partner with Service leadership to identify training needs and tailor content to address skill gaps or new service offerings.
• Maintain training records and track completion of courses for compliance and employee development purposes.
• Update Department Leaders monthly on individuals' progress through the programs
• Support onboarding of new Service Division team members by delivering foundational technical and safety training.
• Contribute to the development of digital and e-learning content where applicable.
• Promote a safety-first culture through training focused on safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as a technical resource for field teams as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• NCCER Certified Trainer
• Previous experience in delivering technical training, mentoring, or instructing is highly preferred
• Technical certifications such as EPA Universal, NATE, Journeyman/Master licenses, or equivalent a plus
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and industry standards
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic audiovisual/learning tools
• Comfortable working in classroom, lab, and field environments
• Ability to occasionally travel to branch locations or job sites as required
• Passion for teaching and developing others
• Patient, approachable, and engaging instructional style
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for various learning levels
• High level of professionalism and organizational skills
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus
Education and Experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical contracting, HVAC service, or plumbing service required
• Prior experience as a field technician, foreman, field supervisor, or similar role strongly desired
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods while instructing.
• Occasional lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, or similar environments during training demonstrations.
