Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Staff Accountant to join our client's finance team. This role will perform essential accounting functions, working closely with the Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Staff Accountant to join our client's finance team. This role will perform essential accounting functions, working closely with the Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Schedule: 20-30 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Manage, reconcile, and process accounts payable
- Collaborate with team to automate processes and reports for improved workflow efficiency
- Post general and adjusting journal entries as needed
- Assist with preparation of bank draw and audit materials
- Maintain and prepare financial reports and work on special projects as requested
- Partner with project teams to ensure timely payment receipt
- Elevate awareness of financial implications that can be addressed or mitigated
- Provide ad hoc and specialized reporting for ownership
- Support Controller with additional tasks as needed
- Perform administrative duties as necessary
- Complete site-specific safety orientation training when visiting job sites
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on construction sites
- Observe all safety rules when on project sites
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Exceptional Excel skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Strong understanding of accounting terminology and functions, including journal entry preparation
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Adaptability to a fast-paced work environment with varied responsibilities
- Strong work ethic with high level of integrity
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed (during month-end close, audits, etc.)
Preferred:
- Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or related field
- Experience with Sage Intacct and Procore software
- Familiarity with CSI Master Format cost coding
- Construction industry experience
