Excavation Operator

Location: Tonica, IL
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a hardworking and dependable Excavation Operator to join our growing team in Tonica, IL. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment, assisting with excavation projects, and performing general construction labor to support site preparation, grading, trenching, utility installation, and related construction activities.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, enjoys working outdoors, and works well as part of a team.

Essential Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

• Safely operate heavy equipment, including:
  • Excavators
  • Skid Steers
  • Dump Trucks and Trailers
  • Tracked Buggies
• Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling tasks.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.

Construction & Jobsite Support

• Utilize hand tools, including:
  • Shovels
  • Rakes
  • Wheelbarrows
  • Picks
  • Concrete tools
• Operate power tools, including:
  • Cut-Off Saws
  • Chainsaws
  • Plate Tampers
  • Transits and measuring equipment
• Assist with utility work, site preparation, and general construction duties.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.

Safety & Teamwork

• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Identify and report job site hazards.
• Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects on schedule.
• Contribute new ideas, techniques, and solutions to improve efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Previous excavation, construction, landscaping, utility, or heavy equipment experience preferred.
• Experience operating excavators, skid steers, or similar equipment.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and equipment regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather and environmental conditions.
• Ability to work on uneven terrain and active construction sites.
• Ability to enter and exit heavy equipment repeatedly throughout the day.
