Valley Mountain Staffing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker to join our client. We are a direct search recruiting company in the manufacturing setting, helping candidates get opportunities at companies internally.
Job Summary:
The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for the design, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges used in our manufacturing processes. This role requires a strong understanding of machining techniques, metalworking, and blueprint reading, as well as a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.

Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts.
- Design and develop tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using CAD/CAM software (if applicable) and traditional methods.
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, EDM machines, and CNC machines.
- Assemble and disassemble complex tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Inspect finished tools and dies to ensure they meet specifications using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Troubleshoot and repair damaged or worn tools and dies.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve tooling designs and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling designs, repairs, and maintenance.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in tool and die making is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker (typically 3-5+ years).
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques, metalworking, and tool and die design principles.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
- Ability to set up and operate a variety of machine tools.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
