Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel/Trailer Technician to perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on commercial trailers up to 53 feet in length, including dry vans, refrigerated trailers (reefers), and flatbeds. Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel/Trailer Technician to perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on commercial trailers up to 53 feet in length, including dry vans, refrigerated trailers (reefers), and flatbeds. The ideal candidate will have experience with structural repairs, welding, fabrication, preventive maintenance, and DOT compliance inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance on large commercial trailers, including dry vans, reefers, and flatbeds.
- Complete body repairs on side panels, rails, roofs, doors, floors, and trailer radiuses.
- Diagnose structural damage and repair, replace, or straighten aluminum, steel, and composite materials.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and repair manuals.
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on frames, crossmembers, and body components using MIG, TIG, and plasma cutting equipment.
- Install, diagnose, and repair trailer air line systems, electrical wiring, and lighting systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on brake systems, suspension components, tires, and landing gear.
- Inspect trailers for DOT compliance and accurately document all repairs and maintenance performed.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, and other shop equipment.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to complete repairs efficiently and within established cost and time guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in trailer repair, diesel maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to weld and fabricate using MIG/TIG welding equipment.
- Knowledge of trailer brake, suspension, electrical, and air systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
