Trust & Estate Paralegal

The candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys, other paralegals, firm members with all aspects of trust and probate administrations. Responsibilities include all phases of trust and estate administration, including but not limited to:

• Create, maintain, and organize trust and estate files

• Marshall, organize, and analyze asset information

• Value assets and strategically allocate assets to subtrusts

• Prepare inventories, asset allocation agreements, asset transfer documents, and disclaimers

• Draft probate pleadings, including fiduciary reports/accountings

• Prepare Estate and Gift Tax Returns

• Obtain tax identification numbers for trusts and probates

• Maintain financial records of trusts and probates

• Communicate with clients, probate clerk, and other professionals

• Attend meetings and participate in conference calls with client and client's advisors

Experience:

• Two or four year degree, paralegal certificate, NALA or NFPA designation preferred, and/or combination of current work experience and education desired

• Minimum 5 years trust and probate administration work preferred

• Passion for trust and estate administration work

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and concurrent deadlines and communicate status of projects

• Ability to receive, analyze and disseminate information from bank, brokerage, and other financial statements

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written with the client's team of professionals

• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work independently upon receiving assignments

• Familiarity with court rules and procedures

• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Office

• Possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and a team player.

• Ability to provide exceptional service, internally and externally, and to communicate effectively

• Ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with clients and employees at all times; professional appearance required

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team; ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities

• Ability to produce acceptable amount of work efficiently and accurately; ability to produce quality final work product

• Ability to prioritize; excellent time management

• Desire to continually learn more about trust and estate administration to advance one's knowledge and value to the team
